Tips

IMPORTANT TIPS

  • First check your vehicle manual for advice on using tyre chains.
  • Make certain that the tyre chains you choose are the correct size for your tyres by fitting them before using them.
  • Accurate sizing is key to performance and validity of warranty.
  • Two-wheel drive vehicles - Chains are most effective when they are placed on the driving wheels.
  • Fitting chains to the driving wheels optimises traction and control.
  • Four-wheel drive (4WD) and All-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles will get better traction and control by fitting chains to all four wheels.
  • If only one set of chains are required, check your owners manual for advice. To retain 4WD and AWD handling characteristics, we recommend that you fit chains to all four wheels.
  • To prevent damage and to maximise the life of a set of chains they must be fitted as tightly as possible.
  • Fit tyre chains on your vehicle at home first, so you become familiar with fitting and tensioning them on your tyres.
  • After use clean any dirt, snow or ice off your chains, then shake off any excess moisture and leave chains out of their bag to dry.
  • This will minimise fatigue and optimise the performance lifespan of your chains.

GUIDELINES FOR USING SNOWSWEAT CHAINS

  • Do NOT exceed 20kph. Accelerate and decelerate slowly.
  • Tyre chains should be fitted tightly to ensure maximum chain life.
  • Try to keep speed consistent and avoid spinning or locking wheels.
  • Chains must be suitable for your vehicle. Refer to your owner’s manual or check with the manufacturer.
  • Do not use tyre chains on sealed or gravel roads that are not covered with snow, mud or ice.
  • Failure to observe this warning may cause damage to the chains and to your vehicle. It will also invalidate the warranty.
  • Check chains each time before use for any damage or faults.
  • Do not deflate your tyres to fit Snowsweat chains.
  • Be sure to pull off the road to a safe place before installing, servicing or removing chains.
  • Avoid hitting curbs or ruts as these will damage the chains.
  • Follow the instructions supplied in the bag to help you correctly fit your chains.
